Hi, I’m Christy, & I’m on online marketer based in sunny Denver, Colorado
I love what I do, and feel fortunate to work in such an exciting, dynamic industry. I am currently responsible for generating new revenue through online marketing activities for Lightning Labels, a printer of custom labels and stickers. Lightning Labels was a pioneer in the printing industry for two primary reasons. (1) Lightning Labels was America’s first custom label printer to use all-digital printing technology. (2) When it was founded back in 2002, it leveraged the Internet instead of sales reps to drive new business. I am proud to be part of a company that isn’t afraid to take risks and embrace new technologies.
I also practice the art of online marketing as an owner and consultant at Honey Tree Media. We create custom Internet marketing solutions for increasing brand presence on the web. With a focus on SEO, social media, content creation, and website analysis, our customer base is comprised of small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. Honey Tree Media also takes on overflow work from local SEO consulting firms from time to time.
Like everyone in this business, I didn’t grow up wanting to be an SEO. I wanted to be a writer. After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in English/Journalism with additional coursework in interactive media and digital design, I spent several years working in newspaper journalism and the nonprofit sector developing my skills not only in writing, but in photography, design, public speaking, program design and delivery, training, and social media as well.
At my core, you see, I am a storyteller. My passion for telling the stories of people, places, organizations and, yes, products, is the constant thread that is woven throughout my diverse professional background. Internet marketing allows me to combine my passion for storytelling with my fascination with new media and the ever-changing Internet.
As much as I love my work, however, it does not define me. So here’s a bit of personal information about who I am:
A native Texan, I moved to beautiful Denver, Colorado in 2008 from the also lovely Charlotte, North Carolina metro area. I believe in doing my part to better my local community as well as the global community at large, and I do not subscribe to the the notion that writing letters to my Congressional representatives is a waste of time. Believing that it truly does take a village to raise a child, I enjoy spending time with my brilliant godson and my sweet nieces and nephews when I have the opportunity, as well as the ever-insightful children who attend Highlands Church in Denver.
Just for fun, I enjoy attempting to tire out my Shetland sheepdog, Scout, through a variety of outdoor activities including running, hiking, and show shoeing. When Scout hasn’t completely worn me out, I also enjoy crafting, live music, and reading just about anything I can get my hands on. Most recently, I have rediscovered the joys of singing by joining a choir full of groovy folks that not only know how how to (literally) sing their hearts out, but also know how to get down. I have also resumed taking dance lessons, an ongoing personal project.
